The IWF will ask you for personally-identifiable information as follows: we request your full name, address, and email address when you register for the site. The IWF may also ask for information on your Irish Wolfhound(s) for study-related purposes. Name, registration number, date of birth, date of death and date of entry into any IWF-sponsored studies may be stored in the Web Site's database and be viewable by yourself and the Web Site administrators. Medical information will be emailed to the appropriate researcher as disclosed on the Web Site's study entry and/or update form and will not be stored; personally identifiable information will also be provided to researchers who receive that dog's medical information. The IWF will not collect any personally-identifiable information about you or your dog(s) unless you provide it to us voluntarily.
When you do provide us with personally-identifiable information, The IWF may:
- store and process that information to maintain the Web Site's registered member list and The IWF Member database
- use that information to contact you via email for informational or study purposes
- aggregate personal data on dogs and make it available to Web Site members (for example, the total number of dogs entered in a particular study)
- disclose that information to third parties when we have reason to believe that disclosing this information is necessary to identify, contact or bring legal action against someone who may be causing injury to or interference with (either intentionally or unintentionally) The IWF's rights or property, other members or users of the Web Site, or anyone else that could be harmed by such activities
- disclose that information to third parties when we believe in good faith that the law requires it
- Any comments made in forums will be posted publicly on the Web Site and available to all members.
The IWF may also collect information about you that is not personally-identifiable. This type of information includes city, state, country, and zip code. The IWF will not collect any such information about you unless you provide it to us voluntarily. The IWF may share this information in the aggregate with business partners, sponsors and other third parties. For example, The IWF may inform a sponsor that x percent of the user base of the Web Site is from the eastern United States. This data is used to customize the Web Site's content and to deliver a better experience for our members and users.
